Veterinary Care with a Heart: Dr. Hillary Mincher’s Mongolia Story
Our featured speaker, Dr. Hillary Mincher, shared her journey alongside her husband Michael, serving in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia since 2016. Through their work with V.E.T Net, an NGO focused on veterinary medicine and education, they’ve built bridges with nomadic herders whose lives depend on livestock.
With hands-on training for veterinary interns, Hillary described how practical skills open doors to deeper relationships. Their internship program includes everything from animal care to community meals, and even English clubs, all designed to foster trust and growth.
“We are pleased to share not only the work, but our lives…” Hillary referenced from 1 Thessalonians 2:8, reflecting the heart behind their service.
So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us.
1 Thessalonians 2:8
The focus remains on veterinary education, community development, and character training. In Mongolia’s secular, post-Soviet landscape, these efforts gently sow seeds of hope and healing.
How You Can Help
The Gift of Love project began in Mongolia in 2017 and continues to bring lasting impact. With a $90 donation, a sheep is provided to a family in need, while also supporting local herders and veterinarians through a barter system that helps keep animals healthy and communities connected. This approach strengthens V.E.T. Net’s work and ensures that every dollar goes directly toward feeding the poor. The gift becomes more than food. It builds relationships, encourages generosity, and reflects the joy of giving across villages and generations.
