The Current State

The V.E.T. Net team in Mongolia is currently using a modified barn as an integral part of the training program for Mongolian veterinarians and veterinary students. Practical veterinary training and demonstrations are a crucial asset of learning at V.E.T. Net. The veterinarians, interns, and students consider this to be one of the most important and valuable aspects of their education.

The current structure, already a great blessing, has some limitations. Due to its size and limited amenities, trainings are limited in size and scope. Additionally, the current barn doesn’t provide much in way of protection against the harsh climate. Since space is limited, much of the training has to take place outdoors when the weather permits.

The Future Need

Our vision for the Large Animal Clinic and Training Center is that we will be able to create a space that eliminates the limitations of the current barn. This new facility will:

  • Improve practical training
  • Be equipped with adequate large animal handling facility for safe hands-on examinations
  • Include purpose-built viewing areas for demonstrations
  • Provide surgical areas that will result in yearlong, effective clinical teaching opportunities

The Minchers

In November 2016, CVM sent Michael and Hillary Mincher to serve at the V.E.T. Net headquarters in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Michael has served as the counselor for the V.E.T. Net Staff, the Evangelical & Discipleship Trainer for indigenous church plants, and has been teaching English to the students and team. Hillary has served as the equine veterinary advisor for V.E.T. Net, assisting in training for the continuing education program for Mongolian veterinarians and veterinary students. Hillary has also transitioned the internship program to a Mongolian leader, and now serves only as an advisor and assistant teacher of the program.

Through their work, the Mincher’s hope to continue building lasting relationships, share the Good News to those who have never heard, disciple believers, and encourage disciple-making throughout the nation of Mongolia.
